Student Registration Period – Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference

May 9, 2022 @ 8:00 am June 2, 2022 @ 9:59 pm

Student registration is now open for the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference on August 5! For over 15 years, the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference (MMRC) has connected legal employers in the Twin Cities metro area with rising 2L, 3L, and LLM students of color from around the country. We’re excited to launch the process for students to learn more about MMRC and register.

What is MMRC?

Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP) is a non-profit association of leading Twin Cities legal employers with a single mission: to attract, recruit, advance, and retain attorneys of color in and around the Twin Cities. For over 15 years, TCDIP has organized the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference (MMRC) to connect legal employers in the Twin Cities metro area with rising 2L and 3L students of color from across the country. MMRC will connect employers with law students who are seeking summer positions for 2023 or post-graduation employment. TCDIP actively promotes MMRC to law schools and student affinity groups across the country.

On August 5, 2022, legal employers will connect virtually with pre-screened candidates. The main event is a full day of 20-minute formal interviews. All employers are invited to participate, including small, medium, and large firms; corporate law departments; and public interest, nonprofit, and government entities. Employers are not required to be a member of TCDIP to participate in MMRC.

How Does MMRC and Resume Review Work?

May 9 to June 2Student registrations open. During this time, students register and provide basic information for MMRC.

Students can also sign up for TCDIP’s Resume Review program here. TCDIP’s Resume Review is a great opportunity to receive tailored feedback on your resume from attorneys and legal recruiting professionals before applying for positions. The program is easy to participate in. After registering for the program and uploading your resume here, TCDIP pairs you with a volunteer who will review your resume. Participation in Resume Review is optional.

Remember: If you want to participate in MMRC and Resume Review, you need to complete two separate registrations.

May 24 to June 13: Students receive who are participating in Resume Review receive feedback from volunteers.

June 2 to June 30: Students complete their registration with 12Twenty, review open positions, and submit application materials to employers. This year, MMRC is using the 12Twenty platform. You can find more information about how to create an account and register in 12Twenty here.

July 6 to July 14: Employers select interview candidates and alternates. During this time, employers can see the application materials of all students who applied for their job posting. Employers select 14 candidates for a full day (or 7 for a half day) and at least an equal number of alternates (14 for a full day, 7 for a half day).

July 18 to July 21: Students review employer selections and accept or decline interview and alternate spots in 12Twenty. Students will be allowed to accept a maximum of 10 interview spots. If a student declines an interview slot, that slot will be offered to an alternate candidate from the employer’s list.

July 28: Interview schedules announced. Employers and students can view schedules on 12Twenty.

August 5: MMRC Interview Day! Virtual interviews will take place using the video conferencing links provided by employers. Each interview is 20 minutes long with 10-minute breaks between interviews. MMRC starts off with a welcome session at 8:30 am. There is a lunch break from 12:20 pm to 1:30 pm.
